BioCNG-to-Cold Ironing

Project Overview

BioCNG-to-Cold Ironing envisages to provide green electrification of ships either at berth or anchorage areas.

A first of its kind floating power plant driven by renewable energy is to be developed aiming to tackle the principles of circular economy.

A barge will be designed and build to carry a marine engine genset powered by compressed biomethane that will act as cold ironing either at berth or in an anchorage area.

Thus bioCNG-to-Cold Ironing will offer a green solution for cold-ironing as set by European directives and international legislations.
